Start ICD-10 Coding Now

ICD-10 is coming whether or not you are ready or whether or not you believe it is coming.  October 1 2014 is the date for compliance.  On and after this date, all diagnosing coding must be done on using the ICD-10 code set.

Here is what to do:

  1. Get the ICD-10 code set.  You can either buy it or get it free here.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the codes.
  3. Watch some videos on Youtube--there are tons and some great ones even.
  4. Take 5 charts per week and code them using ICD-10.
How do you actually find the codes?
  • The diagnoses are found in the index which then tells the coder where to find the code itself
  • The specifics of each code, exclusions, additions, etc, are located in the tabular section.
Is not rocket science.

Try it.
